I just adore Kurosawa's style, he doesn't rush a single scene. Marker's unconventional approach results in a uniquely intimate, beautifully photographed, and sparsely narrated portrait of Kurosawa as he films some of Ran's most spectacular scenes on the otherworldly landscape of Mount Fuji. With Taro dead, Jiro becomes the Great Lord of the Ichimonji clan, enabling him to move into the First Castle.

The fact that this movie was a tragedy(genre) escaped me when purchasing this film(oops).

What a study on the human failings, greed, jealousy, sibling rivalry and the age old quest for power.

I much preferred Kurosawa's earlier work, but Ran is nonetheless a strong film that features all the trademarks that has made Kurosawa's work so good.
